Wassergeist was smoked by Voggesang skippered by Tim Ferguson and crew included Tom Westbrook. Voggesang is located on "B" dock, a Columbia 28. Wassergeist is ready for the next challenge, I will let you know what speed increasing task was done to WasserG after the next race, were ready. Wassergeist corrected for 2nd in front of Gale Force2's 3rd. Results attached. Do note the 1st results posted had GaleForce and Filled with Joy's Phrfs wrong. The corrections made no change in any boat's place. Corrected results are posted at the clubhouse and attached.

Thanks to our sponsor of the 1st Annual Dockside Cup Race by Dorothy and the Dockside for the hors d’œuvres, wine, and race prizes. We look forward to next year.

The next race scheduled is this Saturday 9-15-07 which is a scheduled make-up race which would be the Commodores Cup Race. There is a membership meeting in the Morning at 10am so we will have the skipper's meeting shortly after. Race start around 1pm, be at the meeting for details, it would be a short race.

If you did not pay your race fee at the last race, please remember to pay me this weekend, you owe $10.00, thanx, Mike Lancette, M.Lancette@comcast.net

Firecracker Race

The Firecracker Race sponsored by Dan's Pepin Marina.
Thanks to Dan and Dan's Pepin Marina for the shirts that went to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Orange Crate was out front but went to the wrong mark. It ended up Orange Crate still did well with a very close 3rd place, only 10 seconds from Will Power's 4th.
Gale force is 2nd with Line honors, Wassergeist corrected out in front for 1st Place.
Wassergeist tore her spinnaker on the take down. Tom with Creative Canvas and Sail said he will see what he can do, but Wassergeist does have a spare.

Trans-Pepin Regatta

The Trans-Pepin Regatta was abandoned due to little wind and the race is declared void. For fun the fleet agreed to sail to Lake City but wind had left Lake Pepin, most of us made our own wind back to the marina thanx to internal combustion. The fleet included: Wassergeist, OrangeCrate, Voggesang, Inside The Wind, and Détente. Racing fees will be returned to the fleet and when resailed new entrants will be allowed to race. The Trans-Pepin will be resailed with precedence over the following scheduled races pending wind strength which will be decided at the skipper's meeting before the following race dates:
Saturday July 14th, Commodore's Cup Race, note Skipper's Meeting is changed to 10am.
Saturday August 18th, Evan V. Memorial Classic, note Skipper's Meeting is changed to 10am.
Saturday September 15th, Race Make up, note Skipper's Meeting is changed to 10am.
In the event a scheduled race is "bumped", It will be resailed and entrants will be notified of the new date.
Notify me within 10 days by e-mail M.Lancette@comcast.net of any protest to the updated race schedule.

Difficult to race up and down
the entire lake on a day like this!

Harbor View Cup

Thanks to Chuck at the Harbor View for the shirts and cups. The south west wind at Riley Coulee put most of in a spin, with some luck the coulee could increase your chance for a win as Rhapsody pulled ahead of Sourdough. 1st place went to Wassergeist, 2nd to Rhapsody, and 3rd to Vogelsang. The best pict goes to Sourdough with Sailor (a dog) is seen resting on the sail after take-down in an effort to keep the sail secured on deck.

Pepin Open
From the race chair: The 15-20 knot N.W. breeze kept our heel at a bit more than 15 degrees. Wassergeist started last but was very fast. Willpower was 2nd but came in 1st class with a salmon salad lunch.
